Transportation Department Invests in Tribal Road Projects

Secretary Buttigieg announces investments that will include safety improvements and pedestrian infrastructure.

The Department of Transportation announced the release of $21 million in grant funding for 88 Tribal projects aimed at improving infrastructure and road safety. The grants are being distributed through the Tribal Transportation Program to help communities create pedestrian paths, build wider shoulders for roads, and other traffic safety developments.

“The crisis of traffic deaths on our nation’s roads stretches across the country, and that devastation is experienced at even higher rates in communities of Native Americans, Alaska Natives, and other indigenous peoples,” said Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “The grants we are announcing today through our Tribal Transportation Program will improve, repair, and modernize infrastructure in communities of all sizes on Tribal land, making roads safer and saving lives.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Buttigieg to be discerning as he oversees the allotment of infrastructure funding.
  • For Transportation Department officials as they determine the investments to be made under the Tribal Transportation Program.
  • For tribal and indigenous leaders to be prudent in the use of the infrastructure grants.
